The Museum of Natural History’s gallery spaces are available after-hours for receptions and dinners. Rental reservations must be made one month in advance of the event. Event set-up cannot begin before 4:30pm on any day and events must end by 11:00pm and cleaned up by 12:00am.
The Museum has a list of recommended caterers, available upon request. We are happy to work with any caterer who is new to our facility.
Additional Services: Planetarium shows or guided tours of the exhibits may be scheduled in advance. Fees are $5 per person (minimum charge of $50).

University of Michigan Departments
- Cost: UM department rentals are $58 per hour (that guests are present) plus an additional $58 set-up/clean-up processing fee. You can request security for an additional fee.
- Departments must pay using a University shortcode.
- Food and Drink can be consumed on the first floor Rotunda and Second floor Hall of Evolution spaces ONLY. The entire museum is open during the rental for a general browse.
- Capacity: Strolling events are limited to 125 people; seated dinners are limited to 100 people.
- The Museum does not have air conditioning – therefore rentals during the summer months are discouraged but possible.

Non U-M Organizations
- Cost: $600.00 for up to four hours, and $125 for each additional hour. Charges for Museum rentals start when set-up begins.
