Behind the Scenes Outreach 2014!

2/9/2014

( More )

The 2014 Behind the Scenes Outreach event at the Museum of Zoology (UMMZ) was held on Sunday Feb. 9th. This annual event is coordinated by the Museum of Natural History and brings members of the public on guided tours of our three Ruthven research museum programs (Zoology, Paleontology and Anthropology). It was a big success, attracting 558 highly motivated participants of all ages and backgrounds. Many of these of these enrolled in one or more of the three very popular UMMZ guided tours on offer: Birds/Mammals, Fishes/Herps, Insects/Mollusks. Guided by our enthusiastic team of UMMZ biodiversity experts and trainees, participants were directly exposed to the hidden biodiversity treasures of our marvelous collections, to ongoing biodiversity research projects within our museum program and to the spectrum of research questions that natural history collections can uniquely address.

I wish to thank our talented team of curators, collection managers, graduate students, undergraduates and high-school volunteers – some of whom appear in the accompanying images – for their outstanding service. It is greatly appreciated!
