Databasing fingernail clams

Since entering the University in 2010, I have worked for various people doing research in the museum. The museum community is a welcoming and helpful network of which I've been thankful to have been a small part. This year has been my first year in the collection; working here, databasing fingernail clams that have been collected globally over the last century or so has been a unique opportunity different from any of the other experiences I've had in the museum thus far. By working in the collection, I've gained an appreciation for the importance of organization of an impressively extensive set of specimens, while learning a bit about geography and deciphering handwriting at the same time.
