University of Windsor students study bird specimens

Alana Demko, Pierre-Paul Bitton, Brendan Graham

Alana Demko is researching Rufous-capped Warblers (Basileuterus rufifrons). She is taking some morphometrics and collecting spectral data to produce models that will be used in species recognition experiments. Pierre-Paul Bitton is measuring European Starlings for a study on the changes in wing shape that have taken place as they expanded their range. Brendan Graham is measuring Melanerpes woodpeckers, looking for evidence of character displacement in areas of sympatry.
