Investigating intergrade flickers

Julie Craves

Julie Craves, with Sara Cole and Omar Bonilla. Julie Craves is investigating Northern Flickers: Yellow-shafted forms (eastern populations) and Red-shafted forms (western populations). The eastern birds usually have yellow wing and tail feathers, but rarely have one or more red feathers, like the western birds. She is investigating whether these are caused by genetics or diet.
