Genomic Diversity Lab

The Genomic Diversity Laboratory (GDL) is a facility at the University of Michigan Museum of Zoology (UMMZ) that has computer and molecular genetics equipment available to support research activities of students and faculty from the UMMZ, EEB and other departments at UM.

The GDL laboratory facilities include:

  • A dark room for DNA visualization
  • A conference room
  • A room specifically designated for ancient DNA work
  • All necessary equipment to perform molecular techniques (thermocyclers, centrifuges, freezers, dry baths, electrophoresis chambers, power supplies, photo-documentation system, etc.)

 

The lab also provides computing facilities that include macintosh and PC workstations. The GDL is located in rooms 78, 79, 82, & 86 of the Ruthven Museum Building
