On August 5th-6th, Paige Howell (right) visited the UMMZ Mammal Division to photograph American marten (Martes americana
) from Michigan. Paige is a PhD student in the Department of Zoology at Michigan State University, and part of Michigan State's interdepartmental Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, and Behavior program. For her dissertation research, Paige is investigating the influence of landscape features on the distribution of genetic variation, with a focus on mammalian carnivores. Paige is being assisted in this picture by Suzanne LaCroix (left).
