Since its inception in 1989, UROP has developed into a model program for undergraduate education. UROP has been recognized for its achievement in improving minority retention and for its enhancement of undergraduate education.

 

UROP has been recognized with the following awards:

  • 1992 Pathfinder Award. University of Michigan. College of Literature Science & The Arts.
  • 1992 Certificate of Recognition. University of Michigan. Office of the Vice President for Minority Affairs
  • 1995 State of Michigan. Community Prevention Partnership Award. Special Tribute.
  • 1996 Theodore M. Hesburgh Award. Certificate of Excellence for Faculty Development to Enhance Undergraduate Teaching.
  • 1997 NSF Recognition Award for the Integration of Research and Teaching.( Shared recognition with UM's Women In Science Program)
  • 1999 Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring
