Admissions Eligibility

All University of Michigan incoming first year and second year students on the Ann Arbor campus are eligible to participate in UROP. Students transferring in to UM, underrepresented students of color and women interested in science are especially encouraged to apply.  There are no special prerequisites for admissions consideration.  To receive priority consideration, students should apply by the posted application deadlines.  

UROP

You are eligible if you will be a University of Michigan student on the Ann Arbor campus and have the following status:

• An incoming first year student beginning Fall term
• A second year student beginning Fall term who either participated in UROP during the freshman year or did not participate in UROP during the freshman year
• A transfer student beginning your first semester at UM

Research Scholars Program

You are eligible for this program if you are a University of Michigan student on the Ann Arbor campus who:

• Has been accepted to participate for UROP for a second year experience
• Has participated in UROP for one full year
• Has second year status at the beginning of Fall term
• Can demonstrate a commitment to research work

Junior-Senior Program

You are eligible for this program if:

• you are a University of Michigan student on the Ann Arbor campus
• you will have junior or senior status beginning Fall term
• you do not plan to graduate at the end of Fall term

Priority is given to students seeking a first time research experience.
