Admitted UROP Students
Welcome to the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program!
This year marks UROP's 21st anniversary during which time more than 6000 students have been part of our program. The information below is being provided to help students who have been admitted to the Fall 2009 program.
UROP Orientation Sessions
Students admitted to the 2009-2010 academic program were notified via e-mail sent to their UMICH accounts. It is recommended that newly admitted UROP students attend a UROP Orientation Session where they ask a peer advisor questions about being in the program and can get more information regarding program requirements, registering for classes, etc. UROP has different Orientation Sessions based on a student's status. The student's admitted to the program were told in their Admissions e-mail, which Orientation Session to attend.
Peer Group Information/First Seminar Meeting
In Mid-August, all admitted UROP students should have received a postcard regarding which peer group and peer advisor they will be assigned to and the date and time of their first seminar meeting which is MANDATORY! In addition, they were sent an invitation to UROP's Open House, during which time they will get to meet their Peer Advisor and ask any remaining questions they may have regarding the program that they were not able to ask during their UROP Orientation.
While the UROP Orientation Session and Open House are optional, the first seminar meeting is MANDATORY, as it counts as your Enrollment Workshop. It is during this session that students are "officially" in the program and given access to a number of resources to look for projects including access to the UROP Project Book.
What Next?
Aside from submitting their acceptance form and attending their orientation session, there is nothing else students need to do prior to their first seminar. Students with specific questions regarding work-study, class schedules, and other academic questions, who weren't able to attend an orientation session are encouraged to stop by the UROP Open House on Sept. 4th from 2-4pm to meet with their Peer Advisor. Students can also check out our FAQ Page or contact the UROP Office.
