Melissa Harris, Architecture & Urban Planning, shares her artistic vision and career philosophy with UROP students at the Humanities Institute.

“Even the best classroom education cannot fully prepare a student for a real-world work environment, be it an operating room, a research lab, or an office building.  The University Research Opportunity Program fills that void, allowing students to interact with and learn from leading researchers within a hands-on setting.  Whether or not the student pursues research as a career, UROP will benefit his or her professional life.”

The mentorship UROP faculty provide to undergraduate student researchers early in their academic experience does make a difference.  Both students and faculty benefit fromthis unique teaching and working collaboration.
