Photos Needed

UROP is always in need of good photographs of UROP students working with UROP faculty.  Currently we are sponsoring a photo contest for UROP students to submit photos in the following categories:

  • Student(s) at work: A photo of the student working in their research setting
  • Student(s) with Faculty Sponsor: An action shot of the student collaborating with the faculty sponsor on some task associated with the research project.  Students working with a research team would also be desirable.
  • Student with Student:  A photo of how the students work together on a task in the research environment.

Please encourage your UROP student(s) to participate in this contest. We will accept digital photos. We would also consider sending a professional photographer to your research site. Contact Ann Sprunger at asprun@umich.edu .

The Role of the UROP Peer Advisor

Many of you have been contacted by your UROP student's Peer Advisor as a way of introduction. Each UROP student is mentored by a Peer Advisor who may act as a liaison between you and your student. Liaison's can often help to resolve issues of attendance, attitude and communication skills.  If you would like to follow up on something related to your student, feel free to contact the Peer Advisor. If you have not been contacted and would like some guidance about a student, please contact the UROP Office at 998-9381.

UROP Newsline

UROP publishes a monthly newsletter for UROP students. This newsletter includes important reminders for students about UROP responsibilities, feature articles related to Peer Advisor activities, international opportunities, events on campus and research internship information. Faculty sponsors are encouraged to read the newsletter to help keep abreast of student requirements and opportunities open to students.
