Apply to Be a Faculty Sponsor: List a New Project
Faculty and research sponsors are encouraged to submit their application for the 2008-2009 academic year begining May 2008.
UROP Faculty Research Application
Our first application deadline for the 2008-2009 academic year is August 1, 2008.
Applications for projects to begin in Fall term will be accepted on a rolling basis from May through October. Faculty will be contacted in November regarding new projects or requests to hire new students for Winter term.
Note: Students participate in UROP for the academic year--that is, both Fall and Winter terms. We do not start new students in Spring or Summer terms. UROP sponsors several summer research fellowship programs for students who conduct research full time for 12 weeks. For more information on these programs see: UROP Sponsored Summer Fellowships.
Renew your Project
If you are currently or were previously a UROP faculty sponsor, you renew your project beginning in May. Please use the Faculty/Research Application Form to renew your project for the 2008-2009 academic year. If you would like a copy of your current project description for review and possible updating, contact Ann Sprunger at asprun@umich.edu.
Community Based Research Organizations
If you are a community based organization interested in having a UROP student assist with a research project, you are eligible to submit a project application. The research project should take place in a community setting; should be relevant and meaningful to the community and the organization; should be community driven; and should directly benefit the agency/organization beyond the scope of the fellowship program. When appropriate, research can take place at both the university and in the community. There should also be a strong learning component for the student researcher.
