Funding

UROP is funded primarily from the U-M General Fund.Because of this commitment, UROP strives to improve the retention and enrich the experience of undergraduates by creating research partnerships between University of Michigan students and faculty members from across campus. These partnerships are offered to students to provide them the opportunity to gain research experience, acquire knowledge of a field or discipline, cultivate a professional relationship, and develop presentation skills. The partnerships also benefit faculty by connecting them with enthusiastic assistants in research. For this reason, funding directly from the University enables UROP to offer research opportunities to students through work-study support and faculty sponsors through supplemental funding requests.

In addition to direct support from the University of Michigan General Fund, UROP is able to provide additional support to students and faculty through the generous support of private individuals and foundations. The sponsors listed below have been instrumental in providing financial support to UROP from its inception. Current funders include:

Redlich and Horwitz Community Scholars Fund
Robert D. and Janet E. Neary Fund
Mark and Lori Robinson Fund
A. Rama and Tomoko Krishna Fund
Towsley Foundation
Intel Foundation
Jack Kent Cooke Foundation
Howards Hughes Medical Institute
Bertie N. Butts and Dr. Susan B. Butts

Without the commitment of the University of Michigan and donors UROP would not be able to impact the more than 12,000 students over the past 25 years!

Thank you to all for your support and generosity!
