UROP Summer Fellowship Information Sessions

Apply to UROP

UROP uses a rolling admissions process.  Students interested in apply for the 2010-2011 Academic Program should contact John Vasquez, Assistant Director and Admissions Coordinator at johnav@umich.edu and ask to be but on the email list for next year. Applications for the 2010-2011 Program will be available by March 1, 2010.


UROP Eligibility:
All University of Michigan - Ann Arbor students are eligible to apply not just incoming first year and second year students, are eligible to apply. Students transferring in to UM, underrepresented students of color and women interested in science are especially encouraged to apply.  There are no special prerequisites for admissions consideration.  To receive priority consideration, students should apply as early as possible.

Students must complete an official application to be considered for admission to UROP.   For full consideration, you must complete the application carefully and thoroughly!  Incomplete applications or misinterpretation of eligibility requirements will affect your admission to the program.  Students who fail to comply with admissions dates will jeopardize their application.  Before proceeding to the application page, please note the following:

Notification of Admission
All applicants will receive written notification about their admissions status via e-mail to their UMICH Accounts.

Admissions Acceptance
All admitted students to the program MUST complete the electronic UROP Acceptance Form by the deadline indicated in the Admissions notification letter.  Failure to notify UROP about your plans to participate in the program may jeopardize your placement. UROP reserves the right to relinquish your unclaimed spot to a waitlisted student.

UROP Waitlist Status
Depending on the amount of research projects available and students who accept their UROP spot, we do accept students off the waitlist; however, this process may be lengthy and we cannot predict when. Waitlisted students are advised to be prepared to accept an offer of admissions after the start of Fall term.          

Spring Summer Admission
UROP does not admit new students and/or offer research placements for students wishing to earn academic credit or work study wages during the Spring and Summer terms.  UROP only supports student research efforts through our Summer Fellowship Programs. These programs are student initiated and require completion of an extensive application which is due at the end of January.
