  April 18         Deadline to submit UC 280 requirements

 April 24          Last day to work on the research project

 April 25          Last day to turn in Winter timesheets

UROP is continuing to submit Winter 08 grades for UROP students as they are received from research sponsors. On May 1, we anticipated that the Registrar would change over UROP Fall 07 Y grade to the Winter 08 UROP grade you have earned. This transcript update may now take until May 15 to be completed.  The Y grade will remain for students whose grade has not been submitted by their research sponsor or who have an incomplete at the end of April.  If you do not have a Winter 08 grade appearing on your transcript or if you have an NR listed, please contact your UROP research sponsor to determine if your grade has been submitted to UROP and/or to ask that they release a grade to UROP.  If your Fall 07 grade is not appearing after May 15, please contact the UROP Office at 734 615-9000.  All other grade questions or concerns should be addressed to Sandra Gregerman at sgreger@umich.edu.

UROP held a Research Sponsor Recognition reception on April 9. Students who nominated their sponsor presented the awards to winning sponsors.  The event also include four oral presentations by UROP students, selected by a committee.

Are you wanting to continue working on your research project?  Have you found a new academic or career interest and wish to find a new research project related to this interest?

You are eligible to re-apply to UROP for next year if:

• you will have second year status Fall term
• you have completed one year of UROP
• you have not earned more than 5 credits for your UROP research

Students re-applying will be considered for admission to UROP and placed in the Research Scholars Program.  Research Scholars is designed to help students become more independent researchers, to build academic engagement and to address concerns students face in their sophomore year.  Read more about the Research Scholars Program.

The application deadline was late March. Late applications will be considered on a rolling admissions basis.

Students are encouraged to send photos of themselves at work,  working with a faculty sponsor, UROP students working together, and/or the research team in action. You can e-mail your digital images to Ann Sprunger at asprun@umich.edu

UROP Summer Fellows will begin work on their research projects the week of May 5, 2008.
