  • Janet Shier Fireside Chat
  • Description:

In another installment of the RC Fireside Chats with Faculty, Janet Hegman Shier will speak about how her professional and her personal life intersect;  that is,  how directing plays with an eclectic methodology (drawing from Brecht, Boal, and Shier) for 29 years has changed her as a person. She will address  theater for social action,  how the personal is political, and survival tools one gains by mindfully attending to three ongoing processes involved in creative work: perception, production, and reflection.

Janet is the Head of the RC German Language Program and the founder and director of the Deutsches Theater program, which produces a play in the German language each year.
