  Elleanor Crown was born in Columbia, South Carolina.  She holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mathematics from the University of South Carolina and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Chinese Literature from the University of Michigan.  She enjoys travel, photography, painting, historic preservation, and any activities on, in, or under the sea.
