  • Host Department: Kelsey Museum of Archaeology
  • Date: 01/24/2014
  • Time: 6:00 PM

  • Location: Auditorium D, Angell Hall

  • Description:

This opening talk by the exhibition curator will introduce the show’s featured objects—including gemstone signet rings, alabaster statuettes, and terracotta “puppets”—and a behind-the-scenes look at its installation. The theme of the exhibition will be explored, shedding new light on how the tiny objects of everyday life hold important information about ancient people, their identities, and their communities.  Modern examples of miniature objects will be used to link the ancient and contemporary worlds, resulting in a better understanding of people and society in both times and places.

    Reception follows at the Kelsey.
