SAC Associate Professor Giorgio Bertellini's Book Italian Silent Cinema: A Reader on Shortlist for Prestigious Kraszna-Krausz Award
Recently, Associate Professor Giorgio Bertellini's book Italian Silent Cinema: A Reader won a place on the highly selective shortlist for the prestigious Kraszna-Krausz award and has been designated as "highly commended" by the judges. The Kraszna-Krausz award, which is one of the top prizes a film book can receive, is awarded annually to the best moving image book as selected by an international panel of judges that includes scholars, writers, and filmmakers. Publishers typically nominate more than one hundred books, and unlike some other contests, the nominees include not only university press titles, but also every possible kind of moving image book published during the year. This makes for a truly diverse and competitive--as well as highly international--field. Books on the shortlist will be honored later this year in London at the World Photography Awards, where the winner will also be announced.
