  • Host Department: Physics
  • Date: 11/15/2008
  • Time: 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM

  • Location: 170 & 182 Dennison Building

  • Description: There are three “nice” two-dimensional geometries: spherical, Euclidean and hyperbolic. In order to understand hyperbolic geometry, Professor Canary will discuss its impact on various sports. He will examine the classification of surfaces and their natural geometries. Lastly, he will conclude with a brief look at recent progress on the geometrization of 3-dimensional spaces.

    Detailed Information
All talks are free and refreshments will be served. Visitor parking for the seminars (Central Campus) is across the street from the Dennison Building in the U-M Church Street structure. There is a $2.00 parking charge implemented by U-M Parking Services.
