    As a part of the University's theme semester on understanding race, the Building Islam in Detroit project is presenting the exhibition, Building Islam in Detroit: Foundations/Forms/Futures, at the Hatcher Library Gallery until April 4. See A workshop on March 27 from 4:00-6:00 PM features the following talks:
    Islam and the Challenge of Black Muslim Globalities in the 21st Century 
    Zain Abdullah, Department of Religion, Temple University

    "They are Orientals and They Love the East": Conflating Race, Nation, and Religion in Interwar Detroit 
    Sally Howell, Department of Social Sciences, University of Michigan-Dearborn

    All are welcome to attend. The exhibit and workshop are sponsored by the Center for Arab American Studies at the UM-Dearborn, the Building Islam in Detroit project, the Center for Middle Eastern and North African Studies, and the University of Michigan Library.
