Learn about the signs and symptoms of serious anxiety and depression, how to cope, and when to seek help along with tactics to reduce stress and practice self-care during this busy time of year. Co-sponsored with the RC.

Free Exploration of Detroit!; meet at 5:45

Spend an evening exploring downtown Detroit with free access to museums! Sign up outside the MCSP office. Space is limited!

Thursday, December 5

God Grew Tired of Us; 7:30, Annenberg Auditorium (Ford School)

Winner of both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, God Grew Tired of Us profiles three of the 25,000 Sudanese "Lost Boys" -- young male refugees who were forced from their homes during that country's civil war. After triumphing over unbelievable adversity, these men begin new lives in the United States as part of the State Department's Refugee Resettlement Program; the film follows them as they embark on this compelling and emotional journey. This screening is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided, and a brief discussion will follow the film. Watch the trailer here!

Groove Presents: #Trash Tag; 7:30-9:30, Power Center for the Performing Arts

Groove is a group of energetic musicians and artists drawn together for one reason...to have fun rocking the masses! This entertainment group performs using traditional and non-traditional instruments to blend comedy, energy, personality and choreography into performances on stage and on the street. From propane tank hang drums to tubular xylophones, the instruments are the most creative in town, constructed out of construction equipment, everyday knick knacks, and anything else you could think of. Known as the best kept secret on campus, Groove's here to change your life.

UMix Does Reality presents: Michigan’s Best Dance Crew; 8pm-2am, Union

Join us for Michigan's Best Dance Crew and see some of Michigan's hottest dance crews battling it out for the Audience Choice Award and title of Michigan's Best Dance Crew! We ask for $2 at the door! Doors open at 8pm and the show starts at 8:30pm in Rogel Ballroom of the Michigan Union. After #MBDC, you can attend UMix Does Reality! It will feature different activities inspired by Top Chef, The Voice, Wipeout and Cupcake Wars! The fun starts at 10 pm and will continue to 2 am. Now You See Me is the feature presentation at 10:30 and as always there will be a midnight buffet! $2 donation for MBDC, UMix is free with MCard.

The Grand Slam; 6:30pm, Rogel Ball Room (Union)

Join us at "The Grand Slam" where we will be featuring some of Michigan's best poets. Guest performances include Sam Cook and Michael Lee. Doors open at 6:30 pmand the slam begins at 7:00 pm. $3 at door to support the team.

 

Monday, December 9th

Used Book Sale; 10am-10pm, Grad Library

The University of Michigan Library is selling several thousand gently used books, including duplicate or superseded titles and other books not needed for the collection. Other miscellaneous items may also be available, such as CDs, DVDs, and maps.

Ronald McDonald House Dinner with the MCSP Alumni; 4:30-7:30

Take a break from studying for finals to join the MCSP Alumni Board for a fun evening of cooking and serving dinner at the Ronald McDonald House! Space is limited and only the first six respondents will be able to participate this time. Email Hannah Rockwell at hrock@umich.edu for more details or to reserve a spot!! Look for another dinner at RMH with alumni in January.
