The Avant-Garde Interest Group (AGIG) invites you to a public lecture and open workshop by Dr. Malcolm Turvey. Malcolm Turvey teaches film history at Sarah Lawrence College and is an editor of October, for which he recently edited a special issue on experimental digital cinema (#137 Summer 2011). He is the author of Doubting Vision: Film and the Revelationist Tradition (Oxford University Press, 2008) and The Filming of Modern Life: European Avant-Garde Film of the 1920s (MIT Press, 2011), and he co-edited Wittgenstein, Theory and the Arts (Routledge, 2001). He spent 2011-2012 as an external research fellow at the Humanities Center at Stanford University working on a book titled Play Time: Jacques Tati and Comedic Modernism.
