    Brian Arbic will outline how the new simulations of tides embedded in the wind-driven ocean circulation, developed in a collaboration between U-Michigan and the Naval Research Laboratory, are being used to help develop the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) satellite altimeter mission, scheduled for launch in 2019 and expected to revolutionize hydrology as well as physical oceanography.
