  • Description:

We have fun activities planned for your kids!  It's midwinter break for both the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti Public Schools, it's Presidents' Day, and it's the last day the Proclaiming Emancipation exhibit will be on display in the Hatcher Library Gallery.

Highlights include five activity stations that encourage kids to engage in historical thinking:

    • Connect to background knowledge.
    • Participate in an information quest to connect exhibit content to a map tracking emancipation around the world.
    • Question and evaluate sources in the exhibit.
    • Interpret images of slavery and emancipation to understand what people thought about it in its time.
    • Create your own Emancipation Proclamation to share what you learned when you leave the exhibit.
