Elizabeth Yochim, History of Art alumna and creator of pARTiciPLAY based in Los Angeles, California, will lead an experiential tour of select outdoor UMMA sculptures. This is a chance to learn about the sculpture and the surrounding environment in a new way while engaging sensory and spatial awareness. No previous experience needed. Just bring your curiosity and willingness to play!
“pARTiciPLAY is like taking one of the best museum tours. We strolled through the garden pausing to look, relate to and play with different aspects of the large scale sculptures; and on Elizabeth’s direction, we moved in and around the works, largely without speaking, learning about the sculptures and the site from what we already brought to the experience. It was a very empowering experience. I felt that I had experienced these works of art, and really sculpture, for the first time. The connections that I made astonished me, and I’ll remember those sculptures forever.”
