Phising Emails

Mar 27, 2013

We would like to warn you about one or more fraudulent emails you might
have received on Monday, Mach 25.  They were forged to appear as if
they were sent by the University of Michigan, with a variety of
subject lines, including:

       "ITS Service Center"

       "University of Michigan,Information Technology Services"

       "ITS Help Desk"

Those emails are NOT from the University of Michigan.  They are phishing
scams intended to lure recipients to a non-umich web site and enter their
password into a fake login form.

If you ignored the email(s), you are fine.

       * You don't need to do anything.

       * Please don't reply to this message.

If you visited the site AND entered your U-M uniqname and UMICH password,
you are at risk.

       * Change your password immediately.

       * Reply to this message to let us know you were a victim.

You can change your password at http://www.umich.edu/password or by
calling the ITS Service Center: 734-764-4357 (4-HELP).

You can view a sample of a fraudulent email with screencaps of the
fake web sites here:
