Brief abstract:  Changes in disease occurrence, health care practices and medical education present new opportunities for psychologists. Psychology is well poised to enhance the medical system through education, research and training; however, needs exist to expose psychology practitioners to the unique demands of the academic medical center.  This presentation aims to provide a context and history of psychology in medicine, discuss current trends and practices and provide examples of behavioral research within the medical clinic.
