DH Summer Institute 2014 funding 2nd deadline February 10th
Scholarship Support for Participation in the Digital Humanities Summer Institute at the University of Victoria, June 2-6, 2014
As part of the initiative in Digital Currents, the Institute for the Humanities invites applications for grant support to participate in the 2014 Digital Humanities Summer Institute in Victoria, British Columbia. The DHSI is a well-established, annual, week-long training institute that provides workshops and courses on topics related to the digital humanities. The list of this year’s courses, as well as other information about the program, can be found at dhsi.org. This year’s course offerings cover topics such as the history of the book, electronic literature, sound, GIS mapping, TEI encoding, and feminist engagement with technology, among others.
Grants will provide funds to cover travel to and tuition for the DHSI. These grants ask for matching support from the applicant’s home department. Grant awards will be based on the plan of study, including the statement of interest and rationale for participation.
Students enrolled in doctoral programs in (LSA) humanities departments at the University of Michigan are invited to apply. Even if you do not consider yourself a “digital humanist,” you may find DHSI courses useful to your research.
Criteria for funding include: relevance of the course offerings to the applicant’s dissertation, need for (further) training pursuant to research for that dissertation, and the applicant’s status in his or her graduate program.
How & When to Apply
The deadline for applications is February 10th, 2014 at noon. DHSI early registration ends April 1st, 2014.
