Research Interests Xiaobing Tang's work focuses on twentieth-century Chinese literature and visual arts. He has published in Chinese and English on a broad range of topics and engaging different cultural texts. He is particularly interested in literary and artistic modernisms, the avant-garde, and cultural politics. Currently he is working on a collection of essays on modern and contemporary Chinese visual culture. In 2011, he guest-curated Multiple Impressions: Contemporary Chinese Woodblock Prints for the University of Michigan Museum of Art.
