  • About

My early dream, inspired by my fifth grade teacher, was to be a teacher; therefore, my first degree was in Education. Later I obtained an M.A. in Anthropology from the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina), where I taught Ethnology for several years and did related research in Patagonia as a Research Fellow at the National Research Council. The results of this experience were published in several research papers.

Once in the United States, I started teaching Spanish at the University of Michigan in the Fall of 1988 as a Lecturer first and later as a Lecturer-Coordinator. During these years, I taught and coordinated all levels of the Spanish Elementary Language Program and reading courses at the Residential College. I also delivered and attended many workshops and conferences and undertook several research projects in technology, some supported with mini-grants. In 1998, I received an M.A. in Foreign Languages from Eastern Michigan University.

I strongly believe that the role of education is to empower students to become independent learners and thinkers; able to function well in a complex, multicultural world; and I see the teacher's role as a guiding and challenging force. My greatest teaching reward comes from seeing my students truly thinking and expressing themselves in Spanish.
