    About the Speaker:

    Gerd Gemünden is the Sherman Fairchild Professor of the Humanities, and Professor of German
    Studies, Film and Media Studies, and Comparative Literature at Dartmouth College. He is the author of Framed Visions: Popular Culture, Americanization, and the Contemporary German and Austrian Imagination (Michigan, 1998), and A Foreign Affair: Billy Wilder's American Films (Berghahn, 2008), and the (co)editor of, among others: The Cinema of Wim Wenders (Wayne State, 1997); Dietrich Icon (Duke, 2007); and Culture in the Anteroom: The Legacies of Siegfried Kracauer (2012). He is a contributing editor of New German Critique, and co-edits the series "Screen Cultures: German Film and the Visual" for Camden House. He is currently completing a study of German exiles and émigrés in Hollywood from 1933 to 1948.
