Lunch with Honors: DeRoy Professor Jacques Mistral
Business, Government, the University and Your Whole Real Life
“Tell me, what is it you plan to do
With your one wild and precious life?”
–Mary Oliver, poet
What do you plan to do after you graduate? What are you going to do with your degree? What change do you want to see and become? What’s the connection between your education and your future endeavors? Parents love to ask these questions; you wonder about them too. It’s usual to think about them personally, but it’s also possible to think about them systemically, to see how your particular pieces can fit into a local, national, and even international puzzle. Come discuss these and other questions with Prof. Jacques Mistral, an internationally-renowned economist, who is the Helen DeRoy Visiting Professor in Honors this year. He is teaching an Honors seminar and has given a public lecture on the political economy and future of Europe and the Eurozone.
Professor Mistral has been the Economic advisor to the Prime Minister of France, an Executive Vice President with the AXA group, a major international financial institution, and a special advisor to the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI-Paris). He is also a senior fellow of the Brookings Institution, and a visiting professor at Nanjing University. The Helen L. DeRoy Visiting Professorship in Honors is an endowment that allows us to bring distinguished visitors to campus. Don’t miss this opportunity for an informal, broad-ranging conversation.
