    Ann Arbor's non profit tech company miRCORE ( is offering a one day "Practical Computational Genomics" workshop, with sponsorship from WISE.

    $25 fee, scholarships can be requested in cases of financial hardship

    Participants will:

    • gain essential knowledge in biomedical research
    • become familiar with various online tools including the National Center for Biotechnology Information databases and software packages (no prior experience necessary)
    • learn to efficiently find scientific information on diseases and genes related to diseases
    • gain an understanding of the shortcomings in current medical practices and the promise of the emerging field of medical genomics
    • differentiate DNA, RNA, proteins, and their basic structure and function, identify RNA regions of a specific gene and understand healthy function, and understand miRNA function and RNA network
