    Professor Stathis Gourgouris, Professor of Classics, English, and Comparative Literature at Columbia University will be giving lecture entitled "Cavafy's Debt."  The talk will be an examination of poetic indebtedness: What do societies owe to their poets?  What does it mean for societies to lay claim to poets?  What do poets owe to their language?  Why is Greece indebted to Cavafy?
