"Red Scare: A Counter-History," lecture by Alan Wald, H. Chandler Davis Collegiate Professor of American Culture, in the fall lecture series "A New Insurgency." This talk inaugurates the seven background lectures preparatory to the Oct. 31-Nov. 2 international conference, "A New Insurgency: The Port Huron Statement in Its Time and Ours," co-sponsored by the Program in American Culture. The lecture will be combined with a book-signing for Wald's "American Night: The Literary Left in the Era of the Cold War" (University of North Carolina Press, 2012).
