Student Presentations: Cleaning with Magic Water in the Residence Halls
The students in “ENVIRON/RCIDIV 391: Sustainability & the Campus” invite you to presentations of their semester-long projects with University staff.
Cleaning with Magic Water
University Housing is transitioning to utilizing liquid ozone – sometimes referred to as “magic water” by staff – as a cleaner and sanitizer for the Residence Halls. Based on U-M testing, this cleaner is not only much more environmentally friendly but it works better over time (bringing dirt to the surface) and costs 50% less. However, in part because of the lack of smell or residue, this transition represents a paradigm shift for staff (and students) and a key leadership moment for U-M. 391 students helped shape this cultural shift for U-M and developed materials to promote this transition to other campuses and institutional settings.
