A senior systems administrator with over 25 years of industry experience, his areas of expertise include systems administration, project management, and technical writing. He was the Desk Editor of SAGEwire during its existence and is a long-time USENIX contributor, having served on 6 LISA program committees (1997, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, and 2015) and reviewed that conferences’ refereed papers 13 times (those 6 plus 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2014). He’s written and published conference and workshop summaries in ;login: annually since 1999. Josh is also a charter member of the League of Professional System Administrators (LOPSA).
At U-M, in addition to his regular job administering college servers, especially those for the web content management system (CMS), he was a member of the Best Practices and Technology Team, and in his second year was that team's representative to the Core Team, of the VOICES of the Staff program (June 2012 through June 2014). When his term expired he became a team facilitator (June 2014 onwards), continuing as a facilitator after it became the Leveraging Technology team in June 2015.
Josh is also active behind the scenes in Michigan IT, as a member of the annual Michigan IT Symposium planning committee (2014 et seq.) and as a member of the Michigan IT Newsletter working group.
