    Kay Peplin is a fifth year PhD candidate working on a dissertation that traces the animal on screen from Topsy the Elephant to Grumpy Cat. She received a Masters in Film and Television Studies from UCLA in 2011, and a Bachelors in Screen Arts & Cultures right here at Michigan in 2009. When not working on her dissertation or teaching, she's volunteering at the Humane Society, in a yoga class, or eating gummi bears.
