Because RC students have the advantage of participating in the intensive language programs, most learn how to engage the world around them in unique substantive ways. RC students don’t just enroll in foreign universities, they explore and interact with the people and culture in challenging ways.
Of course, RC students also have the same exciting abroad opportunities that are available to all LSA students through the Center for Global and Intercultural Study (CGIS) and the International Institute. These are wonderful U of M resources so please check them out as well.
In addition, RC students can also apply directly to the RC for funding support for their abroad projects. The Donald & June Brown Endowment Fund, which began in 2007 with a generous anchor gift from former RC and Psychology Professor Donald Brown and his wife June, takes applications three times per year and has allocated over $25,000 in scholarships since January 2008. These scholarships are specifically for study and projects abroad, or in other communities outside of Ann Arbor. Contact the Academic Services Office for more information about scholarships for activities beyond our campus.
