- Instrumental in bringing African professors, filmmakers, and writers to U-M through CAAS to give lectures, performances, screenings, workshops including the African Writers on Citizenship conference (with Fatou Diome, Zoe Wicomb and Gaston Paul Effa).
- Organizing a trip to Senegal to attend the World Festival of Black Arts in June 2008.
- Film, Media, and Culture and Social Discourse: A Poetic Friendship in Francophone Film in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (2007-08, Integrating Study Abroad into the Curriculum (ISAC) Grant).
