Anna May Wong stars as an exotic Parisian fan dancer who flees her show after a serious accident and finds refuge with a bohemian painter. She later becomes a social darling, but as to be expected, her past catches up with her in the form of a blackmailer. A Chinese-American screen legend, Wong had left Hollywood for Europe in 1928 citing a frustration with the supporting, stereotypical roles that were offered to her. In Germany, Wong became a superstar and found an abundance of starring roles that allowed her to branch out of the Butterfly/Dragon Lady roles that marked her American films. This is the second of five films Wong made with director Richard Eichberg.
