  • About

I coordinate the Spanish 232 Special Topics sections and currently teach a survey course that uses cinema and popular media to introduce students to the Hispanic World.

My main area of interest is in the use of Web-based technologies and how these can enhance the language acquisition process. This interest in technology stems from several projects with publishing companies that include collaborating on the CD-ROM ancillaries for Temas and Plazas, editing the 3rd edition of the CD-ROM for ¡Tú dirás! and authoring the content for its companion website.

Currently the projects I am working on include the creation of a database of grammar tutorials using Macromedia Flash and a Spanish 232 Webzine that will consist entirely of student-generated materials. Both endeavors will form part of our ever-growing Special Topics website for Spanish 232.

As coordinator, I have facilitated workshops that focus on the usage of Web-based applications for the classes we offer. Based on these experiences, I gave a presentation entitled "Encouraging Instructors to Connect with Technology: departmental summer training workshops for lecturers and graduate student instructors" at the 2003 IALLT Conference.
