     Sarah Ruden will read from her translation of Virgil's Aeneid (Yale 2008).  She will discuss the creative process of translating classical epic poems from  Latin into English for modern readers.  Followed by a conversation with U-M Professor Yopie Prins and is sponsored by Contexts for Classics at the University of Michigan.

    Sarah Ruden
    is a poet, translator, independent scholar, and the first woman to publish a complete translation of Virgil's
    Aeneid into English. She has received wide acclaim for her classical translations from Virgil, Petronius, Aristophanes, and (most recently) Apuleius. She has also published original poetry and essays on religion and culture.
