Previously, when utilizing the Google Search in the CMS (upper right corner of a website), users were taken away from the site on which they performed the search (i.e., Statistics) to a results page displaying the LSA college website banner (see below for before and after screen shots). This presentation often resulted in confusion as to what results were being provided - were they results from all LSA CMS sites or only the Statistics site? The truth is that the results were actually from the Statistics site, but the display of the results left users unclear.
The recent programming change by Web Services provides a seamless search experience, with users remaining within the same site, and results displaying within the body of the page on which the search is performed. In addition, subsequent searches will be confined to the site from which they are performed.
This change, discussed by Web Services Developer Chris Rockwell at last month's User Group meeting, was rolled out May 6, 2014 at 8:00 p.m.
