Dr. Timothy Johnson Receives Distinguished Service Award

Dr. Timothy R.B. Johnson, chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the U-M Health System, received the Distinguished Service Award from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) at its 2005 annual clinical meeting. ACOG’s highest honor, it is given for significant contributions to the organization and/or the discipline of obstetrics and gynecology.

Dr. Johnson is the Bates Professor of Diseases of Women and Children and Professor of Women’s Studies and Research Professor in the Center for Human Growth and Development. His interests include assessment of the fetus, population differences in clinical prenatal measures, and the process and content of prenatal care. Current research relates to the study of integration and coordination of fetal characteristics. Dr. Johnson is also interested in women’s health care and specifically prenatal care as a model for comprehensive primary care services for women both nationally and internationally. In Women’s Studies Dr. Johnson teaches WS 300 Men’s Health with Prof. Jonathan Metzl.
