Scholarly Interests: Social neuroendocrinology, gender/sex, sexuality, evolution, feminist science practice.

Biography: Sari van Anders’ research program focuses principally on human social neuroendocrinology in diverse populations with attention to gender/sex. In addition to bidirectional associations (e.g. links between testosterone and sexuality), Dr. van Anders focuses largely on the ‘reverse relationship’, i.e. how androgens and other hormones are influenced by social behavioral contexts related to sexuality, partnering, and nurturance. Dr. van Anders is developing feminist science and inclusive research practices to conduct this research and to address the problematics of human biological research. She has received a Young Investigator Award from the Society for Behavioral Neuroendocrinology, and a For Women in Science Award from UNESCO-NSERC-L’Oreal. Dr. van Anders also studies quantitative questions related to academia and gender, race/ethnicity, and class, and is interested in broader research addressing human sexuality, conceptualizations of gender/sex, and interpretations and implications of this research.

***Dr. van Anders is currently recruiting graduate students for Fall 2010***
