Adela Pinch, is the recipient of a Beatrice Brown Award in Women's Studies, and a Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation Research Grant in Women's Studies. She is an Associate Professor of English and Women's Studies, and teaches courses on eighteenth and nineteenth century women writers, feminist cultural analysis, and feminist research methodologies in the humanities. She is the author of Strange Fits of Passion: Epistemologies of Emotion, Hume to Austen (Stanford University Press, 1996), Thinking about Other People in Nineteenth-Century British Writing (Cambridge University Press, 2010), and numerous articles on eighteenth and nineteenth century literature and culture, including "Stealing Happiness: Women Shoplifters in Georgian England," in Looking Forward/Looking Back: A Reader in Women's Studies (Prentice-Hall, 2005).
