Scholarly Interests: Current interests are youth in the juvenile and adult justice system, adolescent girls and the child welfare system and human rights issues affecting children and youth in the U.S.
Rosemary Sarri is Research Professor Emerita at the Institute for Social Research and Professor Emerita of Social Work and Women’s Studies, is currently engaged in a study of juveniles who are tried as adults in the criminal justice system and their outcomes. She serves on two state committees related to juvenile justice and child welfare and on the Board of two agencies in Detroit serving adolescent and young adult women. She is also involved in issues related to human rights protections for juvenile offenders and women. Professor Sarri collaborates with colleagues in South Korea on children, youth and family violence and adolescent female sexual abuse. She is a consultant in social work education and its development in China.
Her most recent publication is “The impact of sexual abuse in the lives of young women involved in or at risk of involvement in the juvenile justice system. (with Sara Goodkind and Irene Ng). in Women and Violence. May, 2006.
